Arusha National Park Day Trip
Arusha National Park Day Trip
Arusha National Park offers an impressive diversity of flora, fauna, and birdlife. It is marked by three significant features—Mt. Meru, the second highest mountain in Tanzania; the colorful Momella Lakes, shallow alkaline lakes famous for migratory flamingos and water birds; and the 3-km wide Ngurdoto Crater, often called the “Little Ngorongoro Crater”, which was formed nearly fifteen million years ago. The park is home to Cape buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, zebra, and warthogs, and even elephants call this “hidden gem” their home.
The most popular activity in Arusha National Park is the 2-2.5 hours walking safari that brings you very close to the park’s giraffes, which are not scared of humans. This ultimate way to experience the African bush will bring you up close to other wildlife, take you through small waterfalls, and allow you to learn fascinating facts about nature, birds, insects, and local plants, which you might not fully appreciate from the seat of a safari car. Moreover, you can enjoy stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru on clear days.
Additionally, if interested, you may add the Lake Momella Canoe Safari, which usually lasts for about 2-2.5 hours. The supplement for the canoe safari is $95 per person sharing.
