Crescent Island is located in the stunning Great Rift Valley on the eastern side of Lake Naivasha. Nature walks on Crescent Island typically last between 2.5 to 3 hours. The Island’s flat terrain makes hiking easy and enjoyable as you walk among giraffes, zebras, gazelles, flamingos, and a wide variety of over 450 bird species. For a relaxed experience, you can have a picnic amidst the abundant birdlife and gently grazing wildlife. A guided walk will allow you to observe pelicans and cormorants along the shore.
Lake Naivasha, one of Africa’s renowned freshwater lakes, is a birdwatcher paradise. Nature walks, and boat safaris here offer the opportunity to see hippos and various bird species, including kingfishers, fish eagles, herons, and jacanas. The lake boasts breathtaking scenery, with the striking Eburru volcanic mountain range as a picturesque backdrop. The shoreline is lined with vibrant, yellow-barked Acacia Xanthophlea trees. In terms of wildlife, the lake is home to over a thousand protected hippos, and you may also come across small numbers of giraffes, zebras, waterbucks, elands, and wildebeests.
