Uganda Wildlife Education Centre
Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), located in Entebbe, also known as Entebbe Zoo, is not just a place to see animals, but a learning hub that provides a unique and educational experience. The Centre’s blend of zoo and safari park experiences, with spacious enclosures that mimic natural habitats for the animals, is a testament to this. With over 120 species of birds, 23 types of primates, and a variety of other animals like giraffes, rhinos, cheetahs, lions, and more, you will not only witness a wide range of African wildlife up close but also gain valuable insights into their lives and habitats.
The Entebbe Zoo covers about 72 acres of land. It features a network of walkways leading to the different animal enclosures and a large natural forest. The zoo stands out from similar establishments in other countries because of its ideal location along the shores of Lake Victoria. The Centre also has an animal breeding program for endangered species and an animal veterinary hospital.
