OVERVIEW

Tanzania’s southern circuit offers a different but equally captivating experience. The Nyerere, Ruaha, and Mikumi National Parks are home to endangered species such as wild dogs, great herds of elephants, buffalos, elephants, hippos, and crocodiles, as well as some of the last remaining Black Rhinos in Africa. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, warthogs, wildebeest, giraffes, hartebeest, sable antelope, greater kudu, eland, and Selous zebras call the southern circuit their home.

Udzungwa is home to various landforms, including rolling hills, mountains, valleys, and waterfalls, making it an outstanding scenic destination for hikers. Kitulo is a botanical paradise where 350 species of vascular plants, including 45 varieties of terrestrial orchids, display a breathtaking scale and diversity during the rainy season from late November to April.

The Southern Circuit is conveniently located near Zanzibar and is the second most visited destination after the Northern Circuit.
