Ruaha National Park

Ruaha is a stunning national park and the largest in Africa covering over 15,000 square kilometers. The name of this great park originated from the Great Ruaha River, which pours the water along its southeastern margin as the main area for game drive with a high concentration of elephants.

Apart from being the best place for elephant lovers, the park is also home to endangered species of wild dogs and other wild animals including leopards, lion, giraffes, bat eared foxes’ cheetahs, zebras, jackals, impala and elands.

Ruaha River is among the largest rivers in Tanzania with the highest number of animals and when the river dries up, elephants and other wildlife use the trail as a road moving from one waterhole to another. Ruaha NP is also a true destination for bird watchers with more than 400 species of birds flying overhead.
