Victoria Falls, Gorillas & Great Migration – 17 Days

Upon arrival at Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA), you’ll be transferred to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. After some leisure time, enjoy the Ra-Ikane Sunset Cruise on the Zambezi River, where you can admire the scenery and spot wildlife like hippos.

After breakfast, your guide will take you to Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwean side, where you can enjoy stunning views and insights into the area’s history. Following the tour, you’ll travel to Zambia for lunch at Lookout Café, perched on the edge of Batoka Gorge with breathtaking views of the gorge and Zambezi River. In the afternoon, visit Victoria Falls on the Zambian side before returning to your hotel for leisure and dinner at Boma Restaurant in the Victoria Falls Hotel.

The popular town of Livingstone was relocated from the Old Drift in 1905 due to a malaria outbreak. Known for its tree-lined streets and historic architecture, the tour includes visits to Maramba Market for fresh produce and local fabrics, and Salaula Market for second-hand clothing. The Elephant Café offers a unique dining experience on the Zambezi River, combining gourmet meals with ethical elephant encounters. Baines Restaurant, above Victoria Falls, offers delicious food and drinks with stunning river views.

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the launching site for a 15-minute Victoria Falls helicopter tour, offering breathtaking aerial views of the falls and the Zambezi River. Following the tour, you’ll head to Victoria Falls International Airport for your flight to Rwanda. Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your safari guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali for an overnight stay. Please know the flight is NOT included in the price below.

Today begins with a guided tour of Kigali city, where you’ll explore the bustling local market and visit the Genocide Memorial site and museum. After enjoying lunch in town, you’ll head north to the Ruhengeri region, nestled at the foothill of the Volcanoes Mountains. Later, you will head to Musanze for a village mountain bike ride, riding through scenic rural villages and the foothills of the Virunga Mountains.

Embark on a memorable trek to observe the Golden Monkeys, which are found exclusively in the Virunga Mountains and inhabit the bamboo forests at lower elevations. This trek will be relatively easy, and you can expect to spot the monkeys in under an hour. These beautiful creatures offer excellent opportunities for photography, and you will be allowed to observe them for up to one hour. Afterwards, you will visit the Gorilla Guardian Village, “Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village,” where you will learn about their traditions, customs, and daily way of life.

You’ll begin the day with a briefing on gorilla trekking regulations before setting off on a thrilling trek to meet the magnificent gorillas and take in breathtaking views of the Virungas. During your one-hour encounter, you’ll observe these gentle giants as they play, feed, and interact within their natural habitat. Afterward, return to your hotel for lunch, relaxation, and the option to enjoy a range of additional activities.

After having breakfast, you will drive to Kigali Airport (KGL) for an international flight to Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO). Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Arusha. In the evening, you will enjoy a 1.5-hour sunset canoeing experience on a crater lake surrounded by a forest with over 130 bird species. Then, you’ll have champagne and snacks on the lakeshore before returning to your lodging for the evening. Please know the flight is NOT included in the price below.

Today, we will drive 2.5 hours southwest to Tarangire, home to the highest concentration of elephants in Northern Tanzania. Lions, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, gazelles and many other wildlife species also inhabit this park. Tarangire offers over 550 bird species, including the world’s most giant bird – the Maasai ostrich. Get ready for an adventure!

Tarangire National Park features a stunning array of landscapes, including savannahs, acacia plains, and baobab trees. During a private game drive, you can spot wildlife such as lions, giraffes, buffalo, wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes. With luck, you might even see a python! After a hot lunch and a relaxed afternoon, you’ll head out for a night game drive, offering a chance to observe nocturnal animals and big cats under a star-filled sky, all in an intimate setting.

Another exciting day of game drive in Tarangire exploring the Lolkisale hidden swamps and other beautiful areas of Tarangire with chances to see different stunning wildlife.  Later, we will travel to your lodging in Karatu, where you can explore a lush paradise on the forested outer slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater.

The Ngorongoro crater, which is only 10 miles wide, was formed around three million years ago when a volcano collapsed. It is the world’s largest volcano caldera and is home to over 25,000 resident animals, making it a unique ecosystem. In the grass steppes and acacia forest, you can spot almost every animal in the East African savanna, including the African “Big Five”.

Let yourself be inspired by the beauty and wonder of the Serengeti, where acacia trees and granite kopjes adorn the endless waves of grass! Your time is dedicated to see the best of Central Serengeti, which offers everyday opportunities to spot Tanzania’s most impressive wildlife including big prides of lions, cheetahs, elephants, leopards, giraffes, a great number of hippos, and abundant birdlife!

Witness the spectacular sight of large herds of wildebeest and zebra trying to cross the Mara River while being hunted by giant crocodiles. The Great Migration involves over 2.5 million wildebeest, driven by ancient rhythms and natural instincts as they follow water sources in a clockwise rotation, covering 1,600 miles per year. The North Serengeti offers a variety of wildlife, including the big five.

Depart for the final game drive in the Northern Serengeti for the last photo opportunities before flying to Arusha. Upon arrival, our representative will wait to collect you and transfer you to the Gran Melia Arusha Rooftop Restaurant for a hot lunch and a day-use room. Later, you will be driven to the respective airport in time for your outbound flight.
