Your day begins early, with a pre-dawn pickup around 5:00 a.m. from your lodge and a drive to the launch site. There, your experienced pilot will go over safety procedures and boarding instructions, preparing you for takeoff just as the sky begins to lighten.

As the sun rises, you’ll gently lift off, floating wherever the wind takes you for about an hour, depending on weather conditions. Reaching altitudes of up to 1,000 feet (300 meters), you’ll get a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the Serengeti’s endless landscape. Keep your eyes peeled as your pilot points out elephants, lions, wildebeest, and other wildlife moving through the golden morning light.

After landing—usually in a remote spot—you’ll celebrate your flight with a champagne toast in true safari tradition. Then it’s on to a full English breakfast served in the bush, surrounded by nature. Your safari guide will meet you afterward to continue your day’s game drive.

Balloon safaris operate across the entire Serengeti, including the Central, Southern (Ndutu), Western, and Northern regions. Flights in Central Serengeti are available year-round, while rides in other areas are best timed with the Great Wildebeest Migration for an even more extraordinary view.
