Maasai Mara National Reserve
The Maasai Mara Game Reserve is Kenya’s most popular and rewarding safari destination in southwest Kenya. It is renowned for its vast population of big cats, including a magnificent pride of lions and elusive leopards. Despite its relatively smaller size, the park offers exceptional opportunities to spot a wide variety of wildlife. The landscape is characterized by expansive grassy plains and rolling hills, intersected by the Mara and Talek rivers, while nearby scattered villages are inhabited by the Maasai people.

To fully experience Maasai, staying for a minimum of two nights is recommended. For those with more time, an extra night would be ideal.

WHEN TO VISIT
The dry season, which is between July and October. Also, early November and February. These months offer excellent game viewing.

HOW TO GET THERE
- By road: The Maasai Mara National Reserve is a 5-hour drive from Nairobi through the Sekenani gate. Alternatively, you can access the Maasai Mara from Northern Serengeti via the Isebania border. The road conditions are poor, so many visitors prefer to fly in using one of the small airstrips.
- By Flight: You can take a domestic flight from Nairobi Wilson Airport to Maasai Mara, or you can take a scheduled flight from Serengeti to Maasai Mara.
