Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park, previously known as Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve, is a national park in Kajiado County, Kenya. “Amboseli” originates from the Maasai word Empusel, which means “salty dust place.” It is acclaimed as Kenya’s finest elephant-viewing destination, offering the opportunity to witness large herds up close.
Amboseli boasts a stunning backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro. In addition to elephants, the park is home to a variety of wildlife, including wildebeests, lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, spotted hyenas, cheetahs, warthogs, buffalo, impalas, jackals, and many other species. It presents an ideal setting for nature enthusiasts to explore diverse habitats, encompassing wetlands with sulfur springs, the dried-up lakebed of Amboseli, savannah, and woodlands.
To fully experience Amboseli, staying for a minimum of two nights is recommended.
